to the Hurley Owner's Association The Hurley Owners Association (HOA) An Introduction The Hurley Owners Association was founded by John Udy in April 1998, prior to that there had been a association in Plymouth, however that only catered for Hurley 22 owners and had wound down several years earlier. The HOA, for Hurleys of all classes, came about when, as a Hurley 22 owner, John was very surprised to discover that nothing existed for these great boats whose designs go back to the 1960s. A couple of letters in the yachting press, and sixteen months further on and the association had a large number of members, mostly in the UK but also in Europe and across the Atlantic. The general aim of the Association is to foster an interest in Hurleys, in all their forms, and, in particular:
The Association is managed by a committee made up of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer/Membership Secretary, Webmaster. Use this link to see a copy of the Rules of the Association On joining the HOA new members will receive a copy of the latest Newsletter and a directory of members, who are the first port of call for help and advice for particular classes. We have a lot of experience between us and that is something we could all draw on from time to time. For free technical advice please email Nick Vass. Please send stuff to put on this site to Rod Coomber and for the Newsletter to Roger Kynaston, the Newsletter Editor. If you are interested in becoming a member please down load and print the Application Form (HTML version or PDF version) and send the completed form with a cheque for £10 made payable to Hurley Owners Association to: Mike Sheridan Membership
Secretary and Treasurer. TROPHIES John Udy has kindly handed over to Nick Vass a number of silver trophies: the South Coast Marine Trophy, the Jack Marsh Cup and the Designers Rose Bowl - presented by Ian Anderson. All are from the old Hurley 22 Racing Assn on the river Plym from 1979 to the late eighties. The Committee is going to consider how they might be awarded nowadays - perhaps for achievements related to our annual rallies.
