For Sale and Wanted

To advertise here please e-mail the details to Rod. Please ensure that the e-mail's subject includes the word "Hurley". Normally adverts will be deleted after 6 months.

The Hurley Owners Association advertises the details of vessels in good faith but cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information nor warrant the condition of the vessels. A buyer should instruct his agents, or his surveyors, to investigate such details as the buyer desires validated.

Please note that one of our members who put a Wanted advert on this page had an e-mail reply from foreign parts inviting him to transfer funds before the item was dispatched. This was obviously a fraud. He didn't fall for it, please ensure that you don't either!  We also had a member who was advertising an item for sale on this page. The "buyer" sent a cheque for £3000 more than the sum agreed. The buyer then contacted the seller and explained that this was a mistake and could he please cash the cheque and send her the £3000. Needless to say he didn't fall for it and neither should you. Be warned!

There also seem to be attempts to defraud people who put Wanted adverts on the site, where the writer claims to have the wanted item but doesn't refer to it specifically but talks about 'the subject title' or 'the above subject stated'. They usually claim to be from foreign countries and the English used is pretty bad. We're not sure how the fraud works, possibly asking for payment before delivery. Once again be warned!

My well-sailed Hurley Alacrity is for sale for £600 because I have been offered a much larger boat, and therefore my mooring on the River Dart in Devon UK needs to be clear. Hence the low price.

She’s been a lot of fun and well looked after but will need some TLC as she has been in the boatyard over winter. The boatyard owner also owns several moorings and is happy to talk to the new owner about finding space. Or the boat is easily trailed

19ft long and bilge-keeled, she’s equipped with a 4hp Mariner outboard in very good condition and regularly serviced. New anchor chain was added last season and she comes with full set of sails. The electrical system was removed by the previous owner and the cabin fit-out is simple and easy to maintain: two good berths but no toilet (she is a day boat after all)

Some small things need fixing but she is undoubtedly a safe, fun and solid boat for estuary or river sailing.

Please contact Martin on or 07802267032

Grey Seal has a long fin keel and enjoys all the seakeeping qualities inherent in her design and has benefited from considerable effort put into her appearance. Her original gel coat shines along with the best and below the open plan interior feels fresh and attractive with 2 / 4 berths, manually pumped water, single-ring gas stove and sea toilet.

Lazyjacks on the main and both halyards and single line reefing lines lead back to the deep safe cockpit together with roller furling on the foresail makes her easy to sail single-handed.

Mechanical power is provided by a 6 hp Tohatsu Saildrive 4-stroke, longshaft
outboard, new in 2016 and done less than 50 hours running to date. Serviced by a Tohatsu dealer from new. The engine is located in the stern compartment, adding security while allowing easy removal for service and maintenance.

Electrics include combined log/depth, fixed VHF marine radio with repeater speaker in the cockpit, radio / CD player in cabin. 75 Ah leisure battery charged from the engine and from a Solarex solar panel mounted on the engine
compartment hatch.

Deck equipment: CQR type galvanised anchor with 20 metres chain. Spray hood, boom sail cover, cockpit dodgers, compass, halyard clutches, bilge pump, fenders, dock lines, boat hook, safety line anchorage points and cockpit
cushions. A folding s/s boarding ladder is fixed to the transom.

Included in the sale is a yacht cradle to support the yacht when stored ashore and legs to keep the boat upright in tidal situations. Grey Seal is currently ashore in Brixham, Devon until end of March.

Price: £2850 or near offer. Contact Roger on 07762 777581 or email:

Unexpected opportunity to buy a bigger boat forces me to sell my Hurley 22 "Toeze". When we bought her she was in a bit of a neglected state, but we did lots of work and maintanance to bring her to a high standard.

The cabin is completely dry. She sailed along the Belgian coast from Nieuwpoort and we made 2-day trips up to Gravelines in France. We slept in the cabin up to 3 adults. She is safe and sea-worthy.

She has a very good set of sails, main, genoa, working jib and small(storm)jib. The jibs are of a hanked-on type. Sails are rinced and thorougly dried after each sailing season. They are stored on a dry and well ventilated attick. No signs of mildew. Main: 2 reefs, single line reefing from cockpit, condition very good, leech tension adjusable, new reefing lines (2016). Genoa: hanked on, very good condition, leech and foot tension adjustable. Working jib: older sail, moderate condition. Small jib: brand new, little used (2010). All sheets and lines removed after each season to be washed, dried and stored in attic. All very good condition.

New (2018) plexiglass (6mm) windows with inox frames(custom made by craftsman). Renewed teak handrails on roof (2014).

Battery 12V (2016) with solar panel on hatch cover to power the log, depth sounder, VHF radio, fixed GPS and navigation lights. 2 outboard engines: Mercury 4HP(2007) and Mercury 6HP(2016). Both yearly serviced by authorized dealer. Maintenance records available.

Delta anchor with short chain and long warp, never used. Fixed compass. Navik windvane on stern, with cables and complete set-up. Boat comes with warps and fenders.

"Toeze" can stay on the boat parking in Nieuwpoort Belgium until the 1st of November, from then on we will have to pay for parking her.

Price: We would like to see 3.600 GBP or 4.000 euro, but we allow lots of room for negociation.

1967 Hurley 22 Project Boat - Carelle. long, fin keel. I bought this boat 13 years ago and have enjoyed sailing her locally. A few years back I lifted her out to repaint the deck and fix the rudder stock and I've never found time to finish the work.

The boat comes with all the rigging, mast and boom. The mainsail, jib, spinnaker and pole are all present as well as an outboard well cool box. The pieces of a new rudder and the old rudder are included. A seized inboard engine has been removed (not present) and the old prop shaft hole needs fiberglassing over. I have lots of photos for anyone who's interested and recommend coming to view and get a scale of the work required.

Currently stored ashore in Kingston Boatyard, East Cowes, Isle of Wight. It is on a cradle which can be included and that is on a trailer that is not roadworthy!(I wouldn't even tow it across the yard/this isn't included). It can be lifted across to another trailer by the yard crane. I'm open to low offers and just want to let her go to a good home. Please email Daniel Westwood on

For Sale. Hurley 20 bilge keel. Serial no: OFF No 337464; Reg Tons 2 68/100; early history not known; believed to have been built in 1970s-80s.

History: Current owner has had the boat for 11 years; previously unused for several years. Some renovation 2006-8 including replacement of all standing and running rigging, also painting/varnishing.

Rig, Sails: Bermuda rig; Jib furled on roller fitted to forestay - roller controlled from well - which makes boat very easy to balance, and sail single-handed. Roller-reefing of Mainsail onto Boom. Non-matching sails, in fair condition.

Mast stepped on Tabernacle (pivot) on cabin roof, so it can be raised and lowered using a simple A-Frame and the Mainsheet.

Pushpit and Pulpit, 2-level wire safety/side-rails. Four berth cabin, with foam cushions - removed when boat beached for the Winter.

Also possbly available: 8HP Mariner outboard, short shaft;8ft GRP tender/dinghy

Kept on swinging mooring April-October/Nov; stored out of the water on shingle beach over the Winter.
Annual maintenance: Hull anti-fouling and woodwork varnishing

Recent house-move makes regular sailing impractical for me - too much travelling - so boat needs an enthusiast living nearer to sailing waters.

Price £950. View: Dell Quay, Chichester Harbour. Contact Chris Hepden: 07734 976280 or
