Please note that one of our members who put a Wanted advert on this page had an e-mail reply from foreign parts inviting him to transfer funds before the item was dispatched. This was obviously a fraud. He didn't fall for it, please ensure that you don't either! We also had a member who was advertising an item for sale on this page. The "buyer" sent a cheque for £3000 more than the sum agreed. The buyer then contacted the seller and explained that this was a mistake and could he please cash the cheque and send her the £3000. Needless to say he didn't fall for it and neither should you. Be warned!

There also seem to be attempts to defraud people who put Wanted adverts on the site, where the writer claims to have the wanted item but doesn't refer to it specifically but talks about 'the subject title' or 'the above subject stated'. They usually claim to be from foreign countries and the English used is pretty bad. We're not sure how the fraud works, possibly asking for payment before delivery. Once again be warned!

Fraudsters are still very active and continue to improve the way they hope to build confidence. We recently heard of someone promising to buy a boat at the listed price but unfortunately they could not attend in person so someone would come their behalf. Please be very careful.

Members offering items as "free" are advised to note the advice of Nick Vass on the subject. He says: "The owner giving away a boat must charge something and he must complete a Bill of Sale.The purchaser and vendor need to fill in a Bill of Sale and also have it witnessed and signed.A Bill of Sale is the only recognised way of establishing ownership of a boat. A Bill of Sale would be required to register Part One. Part Three SSR registration is only to establish flag state and is not proof of ownership.On the bill of sale the seller can put One Pound and Other Considerations and legally sell for one pound. This disguises the value.Or he can simply put One Pound.So, even if it is free, it costs £1.00"

Stored ashore every winter since. A copy of the 2006 survey is available if required.Hull was resprayed approximately 10 years ago, and new windows fitted around the same time. All sails in good condition, main with double slab reefing, jib. and Genoa with self-furling gear. Previous owner was director for Lewmar so self tailing Winches are new as are hatches with roller fly and sunshades, plus 6 opening portlights and much more. A new heavy duty electric windlass and chain. Rebuilt Volvo engine 23 hp new rings, bearings, exhaust system, water pump, filters, starter motor, alternator, Saildrive and propeller fitted all new. I built a s/s & alloy sun shade over cockpit this has two solar panels one for each bank of batteries. New AGM 120 amp batteries fitted in May this year. Two new davits, bathing platform with extra long drop down ladder. New instruments. Good VHF and sterio systems. New cooker with oven. Plus new microwave oven. Large built in top load cool box with Danforth compressor, keeps going day and night on one battery bank. Good inflatable pump and oars. Lifebelt and danbuoy, plenty of fenders two anchors. Lazyjacks and cover. Twin fuel tanks each holding about 12 gals. 60 lts.fuel switch in-between. New water tank. Electric and manual bilge pumps. Fixed 2 blade propeller.Separate start battery. Engine charges (55ahr) start battery and then both the house battery (75ahr) in parallel with the start battery when voltage sensitive relay switches on. Wind generator charges the house battery and then parallels with the start battery when the voltage sensitive relay switches. batteries can be palleled in emergency.Tru-Design seacock. Weed filter with clear top (both new) Roller Furling Genoa (Harken furler) Slab reefing main with 2 reefs. 2 burner Origo cooker which folds away.Diesel Heater Webasto with one outlet. Par sea toilet with Blake sea valvesForgen wind generator 30amp solar panel which is not permanently mountedWind Pilot self steering gear with spare vanes and pendulum rudder. Hurley 20 for sale – “Make and Mend” Grey, Cream and Blue Bilge keel pocket ruiser, draws 0.8m ideal first yacht for east coast waters. Fantastic sailor. VHF Radio with distress button, compass and depth sounder, leisure battery with solar charging. Mast and navigation lights – all in good working order. Sea toilet. Curtains and gas cooker. New main sail (2024), professionally converted to slugs and used three times last season. Recent (2019) Genoa in very good condition. Roller furling New cockpit through hulls and drain valves 2024, refreshed cockpit locker lids and barge boards. Long shaft Mercury 5hp 2 stroke outboard, with new prop (2025). Just professionally serviced at cost of £100 Clean and tidy interior, decent cushions. Dry boat with no leaking windows etc. Perfect day boat or for over nights away.
