For Sale and Wanted

To advertise here please e-mail the details to Rod. Please ensure that the e-mail's subject includes the word "Hurley". Normally adverts will be deleted after 6 months.

The Hurley Owners Association advertises the details of vessels in good faith but cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information nor warrant the condition of the vessels. A buyer should instruct his agents, or his surveyors, to investigate such details as the buyer desires validated.

Please note that one of our members who put a Wanted advert on this page had an e-mail reply from foreign parts inviting him to transfer funds before the item was dispatched. This was obviously a fraud. He didn't fall for it, please ensure that you don't either!  We also had a member who was advertising an item for sale on this page. The "buyer" sent a cheque for £3000 more than the sum agreed. The buyer then contacted the seller and explained that this was a mistake and could he please cash the cheque and send her the £3000. Needless to say he didn't fall for it and neither should you. Be warned!

There also seem to be attempts to defraud people who put Wanted adverts on the site, where the writer claims to have the wanted item but doesn't refer to it specifically but talks about 'the subject title' or 'the above subject stated'. They usually claim to be from foreign countries and the English used is pretty bad. We're not sure how the fraud works, possibly asking for payment before delivery. Once again be warned!

"Blaze Too" is a fin-keel Hurley 22, approx 1968. She is unusual in that she has a factory fitted stern hung rudder and no outboard well in the aft locker leaving plenty of room for stowage. She has the slightly larger Proctor mast and was regularly used for racing until I bought her 3 years ago. When she was lifted out of the water and she was fully refurbished.

The hull was epoxied below the water line and all the skin fittings were changed for brand new bronze fittings, including two Blakes valves for the new Tabasco sea toilet. The Hull is sound.

On deck - All the control lines are lead aft to the cockpit with a Clutch and Winch for the halyards

All the running rigging was replaced last year and new instruments were fitted - NASA CLIPPER DUET (Speed and Depth) and NASA CLIPPER WIND.

The standing rigging was inspected by a professional rigger and found to be in great order and slightly oversized, as she was used for racing.

There is a Danforth anchor and 20m of chain plus an additional 20m of chain in the stern locker (I keep it there to distribute the weight more evenly)

The sails - these are a little tired and could do with a service, the genoa has had a new UV strip fitted in 2014 and the main has a stack pack with lazy jacks. All controlled from the cockpit. there is a also a Storm Jib in very good condition. All the sails are made by Kemp.

The engine - is a Yamaha Malta two stroke 4 hp outboard stern hung. This engine is bomb proof and has never let me down, it is plenty powerful enough for getting in and out of the moorings.

Below deck - she again is unusual in that she doesn’t have a bulkhead but has a factory fitted mast post that extends down into the Lead encapsulated ballast.

She has: a Standard Horizon Explorer DSC VHF, that is two years old and includes a GPS; a two year old Tabasco sea toilet; two-ring Gas burner and grill and a sink (but no running water); a car stereo with speakers for listening to music when at anchor; a solar panel and battery charger to keep the battery topped up. The headlining is factory moulded fiberglass so no worries of it degrading and it is insulated so there is no condensation build up when sleeping aboard.

She is currently on a council mooring in Marylandsea Bay, Essex, which has been paid up (£120 a year) till April 2017 and this will be included in the sale, if you are interested in keeping her there then i can easily transfer the mooring to you.

Because of her long keel and stern hung rudder she practically steers herself and with the trim right you can let go of the tiller and she will just keep going. she is fast and weatherly and an absolute pleasure to sail. I love this boat and this is a very reluctant sale. I have spent the best part of £2500 on her over the years and many many hours of work, but I no longer have the time to go sailing or on her up keep.

Price £2000 ONO. Thanks for looking any questions please don’t hesitate to ask James Delarre on 07841131525 or

Reluctant sale of a much worked-on and well-loved Atlanta 25. After the closure of Hurley in 1974, the moulds of the Hurley 24/70 were acquired by Atlanta Marine, who went on to market the yacht as the Atlanta 25, adding an extra foot making it almost 26 feet.

Located in Kippford, Scotland, this small sturdy cruiser has great sailing performance, a
roomy interior with good sized accommodation affording 3 berths in 2 separate cabins, a
good size galley, single heads and spacious cockpit. Comes complete with two sets of
sails (one new with less than 30 hours use; unfortunately the foresail UV strip needs

Work so far: complete engine overhaul 2015 only 15 hours use. New headlining, new wall
cupboard, AIS fitted but lost cables (does work), fridge / freezer, VHF DSC radio with
inbuilt AIS. Auto helm, two flexible solar panels. Two new batteries 2014, new switch
system, new upholstery, new windows (not well fitted). Stainless steel boots fitted to keels.New bilge pump, and Morse control system. New spray dodgers. New twin gas burner and hose.

Still in need of some work to get her into a good looking, homely cruiser with good sailing qualities. The current state is reflected in the asking price. She is a good boat that will provide many a happy sailing holiday. Estimate another £500 to finish all the work, including antifouling, to have a quality boat.

Requires new
UV strip on sail
Connections for AIS.
Connector for cable.
Oil pressure unit

The above is my opinion on what I consider is needed to be a boat I would be more than happy with.

For sale: Hurley 22 Rochelle built in 1974 by Hurley Marine, hull number 8272 and re-engined with a Yanmar 10HP inboard diesel engine in 1992. Very few Hurley 22's have inboard engines. Most have outboards sat in an aft cockpit wel, making reversing very tricky. With the inboard she performs very well in astern. The outboard well is a very useful and large storage locker. Cruising speed about 5knts and 6.5kts max. Shore power fitted and a solar battery charger that keeps the battery's charged when on her swinging mooring. Her engine has been professionally serviced by a marine engineer.

Her condition is excellent for a 42 year old boat. I have just polished her and antifouled for the 2016 season and she has just been relaunched April 7th 2016. Her original GRP hull polishes to a shine like a new yacht. Her mast was stepped 2015 and all rigging etc checked by a professional rigger. All was fine - only had the mast-mounted halyard winch replaced. The standing rigging was all replaced in 2003 and the running rigging at the same time. She has a mainsail, furling genoa that was recut and a new UV strip fitted in 2012. Also a spinaker and spinaker pole. The sails were professionally laundered in 2014.

The accommodation comprises double forward berth with privacy curtain,Jabsco marine sea toilet under the forward part of the berth with infill cushion. The seacock was replaced in 2015.

Galley has stainless sink with manual pumped freshwater, single gas stove, plenty of storage lockers throughout the cabin and below the berths. Quarter berths port and starboard.
Navigation equipment comprises:
Cobra DSC VHF radio.
Garmin 72 GPS interfaced with VHF radio 2012
NASA Clipper log 2012
Nasa Clipper Depth 2012
Autohelm 1000 autopilot
Tricolour at masthead,
Plastimo contest compass.

Inventory includes:
20lb CQR anchor, 10m chain and 25m warp.
Fenders and mooring lines.
boat hook
Sail Cover.
Sail bag.
Cockpit cover.
Manual bilge pump.
Automatic Bilge pump
Tow batteries and isolator for engine and house electrics.

Finally 'Rochelle' comes with a pair of professionally-made beaching legs and fittings, so drying out is possible and mid-season scrub without a lift out. 'Rochelle' is on a swinging mooring which is paid to Sept 2016 and can go with the boat. Mooring is just off Falmouth and the public slipway for dingy launching to get to her.

I will be sailing 'Rochelle' this season and continue to look after her until she sells. My other boat is laid up for the time being. I can't justify both yachts unfortunately.

Price £3750. Please contact Gary Denholm, mobile 07881 803998, e-mail

...before I go the "new" route I thought I'd check around and see if anyone had anything sitting in their shed or garage that I could take off their hands for the requisite beer tokens...

So, Hurley 20 mainsail please, the current one is diabolical and I think it would be difficult to be in poorer condition, but clearly the better the condition the errr.. better...

Current sail has a 6.5mtr luff and a 2.5 mtr foot - I have some room for manoeuvre on the foot (20cms), but little on the luff (5cms).

This is a rare example of the later Hurleys built by Ravensail in the early 1980s and dates from 1984. A classic pocket cruiser, this one benefits from bilge keels, perfect for cruising and exploring the many estuaries here on the south coast. She is a much-loved and well-cared for yacht, originally the Boat Show model and with only 2 owners from new. The hull was professionally epoxied in 1994 and resprayed in 2008; she also had new standing rigging in 2008 (when mast fittings, chain plates etc also checked and found to be sound and secure), a new headsail by Sanders Sails in

2006 and also a new 4-stroke Mariner 6 engine from the same time (currently with only c150 hours use). Other features include a table with cockpit and saloon fittings, recent fuel tank and bilge and water pumps, and quality woodwork. She was lifted and re-antifouled in November and is currently lying afloat in Keyhaven river, near Lymington, Hants. More photos and further information are available from Price £4,800.
