The Hurley Owners Association advertises the details of vessels in good
faith but cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information
nor warrant the condition of the vessels. A buyer should instruct his
agents, or his surveyors, to investigate such details as the buyer desires
note that one of our members who put a Wanted advert on this page
had an e-mail reply from foreign parts inviting him to transfer funds
before the item was dispatched. This was obviously a fraud. He didn't
fall for it, please ensure that you don't either! We also had
a member who was advertising an item for sale on this page. The "buyer"
sent a cheque for £3000 more than the sum agreed. The buyer then
contacted the seller and explained that this was a mistake and could
he please cash the cheque and send her the £3000. Needless to
say he didn't fall for it and neither should you. Be warned!
also seem to be attempts to defraud people who put Wanted adverts on
the site, where the writer claims to have the wanted item but doesn't
refer to it specifically but talks about 'the subject title' or 'the
above subject stated'. They usually claim to be from foreign countries
and the English used is pretty bad. We're not sure how the fraud works,
possibly asking for payment before delivery. Once again be warned!

Sale. Hurley 20 ft Long Bilge keel sailing yacht.
is an excellent small yacht with a reliable engine, in ready
to sail condition. (I was out last weekend around Bass Rock!).
Its an old boat but in sound condition. Nothing is new
or perfect but then again it all works. I should really have
spent more time sprucing her up and adding a few bits and pieces
but to be honest I enjoy the sailing more.
1968 by Hurley and a really solid boat. Completely dry. Original
gel coat. A good few marks but basically sound. Underside antifouled
in red/brown. Evidence of very many coats over the years. Some
areas flaking off.
and standing rigging in sound condition. Mainsail is old (probably
original: No 123). A few patches and repairs. Roller reefed.
Newer furling genoa in better condition.
4hp 4 stroke Yamaha professionally serviced Aug 16. Easy
to start and reliable. Internal and external tank. Not sure how
old but not used much (mostly in and out the harbour).
and chain (additional mooring chain available about 12-15m).
In theory a 4 berth sailing boat but it would be a squeeze. 2
berths down each side. 2 berths in bow (child sized). Small galley
with simple gas stove. Small chart table. Lockers beneath. Bucket
with small inflatable tender. In sound conditions (need pumped
up once a year). All extras to be included. Fenders (7?), lines,
small inflatable fender, various spares, reefing kit, handheld
GPS etc etc.
What to be
aware of: As stated above she is old and in places it shows. Hatch
covers (Fore and aft) cracked and really need repaired. Cockpit
hatch is coming off runners again a simple repair. Hatchway
boards lower one has area of rotten wood. Holding up for
now but needs replaced.
Where is she:
Currently on a mooring in Dunbar Harbour. Due to be craned out
on 7th October. There is no trailer so you can either sail her
away or put on trailer using the crane. Or if you have the right
trailer there a slipway and this can be used. She can sit on the
hard at Dunbar all winter (stable on her bilge keels) if that
helps. Space has been booked and paid for. But once the season
starts and yachts are craned in then its up to you to move
her or make arrangements with Dunbar harbour trust.

Braked Road Trailer, for twin bilge-keel Yacht up to 1500kg
and 8.5metres. £790.The trailer was converted to carry
a twin bilge-keel yacht in 2005 by addition of two steel channels
for the keels to stand in (see photo.) The width of the channels
and the distance apart of the channels, are both adjustable.
Yachts with footprint (overall width measured at the bottoms
of the keels) up to 1.77metres can be accommodated.
At the time of conversion a new axle/wheels/brakes and lockable
tow-hitch were fitted; the new suspension has a capacity of
1800kg (1.768 tons). It would probably be prudent not to carry
a boat of more than 1500kg (1.47 tons); notwithstanding that
it has safely carried my Hurley 20 from Kent to Chichester.
conversion the trailer has been towed no more than 500 miles.
It has lain unused since 2008, an accordingly I have recently
cleaned and repainted the relevant parts.
boat must obviously be loaded with the centre of mass directly
over the centre-line of the wheels, which is approx 4.25metres
aft of the tow-hitch. Assuming the centre of mass is equidistant
from the bow and stern, a boat 8.5metres length, and weight
not exceeding 1500kg can be accommodated.
hand winch is fitted to the front of the trailer, to aid recovery
of the boat and for manoeuvering the trailer once the towing
vehicle is detatched.Adjustable arms are fitted to the rear
of the trailer to carry the lighting board, which has a standard
7-pin UK towing plug.
Overall width of trailer, at wheels, 2.51 metres
Overall length with rear arms fully extended: 7.08 metres
Overall length with rear arms fully retracted: 5.66 metres
